In the 1988 classic Beetlejuice, directed by Tim Burton, recently deceased couple Adam and Barbara Maitland find themselves trapped as ghosts in their Connecticut home. Their peaceful afterlife is disrupted when an obnoxious family of New York yuppies purchases the house. Desperate to reclaim their home, the Maitlands enlist the services of Betelgeuse (Beetlejuice), a rogue "bio-exorcist" known for his chaotic and dangerous methods.
Beetlejuice’s wild antics quickly spiral out of control, placing the living and the dead in peril. The mischievous spirit forces a wedding with the family's goth teenage daughter, Lydia, to free himself into the mortal realm. Ultimately, the Maitlands intervene, a giant sandworm devours Beetlejuice, and both families learn to coexist harmoniously in the beautifully restored home.
