About Us

The Aron Theatre Co-operative

“The Aron” is a beloved theatre in Campbellford, Ontario.  It was opened as a purpose-built cinema on November 15, 1947. Over the decades, people have been enjoying films, concerts and other social events at the theatre. On June 30, 2010, the Aron Theatre Co-operative was incorporated, and eleven months later, it purchased the business.

The not-for-profit co-op operates with a triple bottom line, ensuring financial viability, community responsibility, and environmental stewardship. Since purchasing the theatre, we have invested over $400,000 to install exceptional digital projection and sound, new seats, theatre insulation, new washrooms, accessible doors, a green roof (see video below), and new HVAC systems.

As a co-operative, we are a democratic organization, owned and controlled by our members. Membership is $20 a year for individuals and $40 a year for families. An elected board of directors, staff and volunteers operate the theatre on behalf of all the members and the community.

Vision

Our vision is to transform the Aron Theatre into a sustainable cultural hub, open to everyone in our community.
