Chief Taynar Simpson, Alderville First Nation, will speak about granting legal personhood to Rice Lake. In November 2025, Alderville First Nation passed a resolution granting legal personhood to Rice Lake, and it was announced the same day by Chief Simpson at the UN Climate Change Conference in Belém Brazil. Join us to hear Chief Simpson speak on this incredible collaborative journey to protect the water. And, our evening will end with a fun game of Bingo.

We Lend a Hand: The Forgotten Story of the Ontario Farmerettes is a 49-min documentary which reveals the true and forgotten story of the Ontario Farm Service Force. It put 40,000 volunteer teenage girls to work between 1941 and 1952, arriving from different parts of Ontario and Quebec to many locations in Southwestern Ontario. Their job: to ensure critical food production during the most perilous period of modern history. Join us for this inspiring film, followed by a panel discussion.

Nell Tenhaaf will look at some iconic works of land art from about fifty years ago that were part of the Conceptual Art movement, artists who rebelled against the way art is institutionalized both in museums and as a commodity.

Dimitri Papatheodorou will talk about The Constructed Environment. He will zoom in and zoom out, from his encaustic sculptures (based on pigment and melted beeswax that solidifies) and other art-works that are intimate pieces, to community (architecture). Jan Thornhill has been studying the amazing fungi she finds around her home in southeastern Ontario (Canada) for more than 30 years. Jan’s talk will focus on Myxomycetes, or slime molds.

She will talk about her projects in the Australian Outback, the Canadian Arctic, and explorations of local land and home territory. Graham Wilson will present the talk Natural Materials. This talk will offer a brief review of rocks and minerals in space and time, roughly divided between local (Trent Hills) geology and a wider overview of planet Earth.
