Disney's 2026 live-action adaptation of Moana follows the titular, adventurous teenager (played by Catherine Laga'aia) who answers the Ocean's call to save her people. When a mysterious blight begins to poison the crops and waters of her island paradise of Motunui, Moana defies her father's rules and sets out on a perilous voyage across the sea.
Her goal is to find Maui (Dwayne Johnson), the shapeshifting demigod responsible for stealing the heart of the goddess Te Fiti. Together, they must team up to retrieve Maui's magical fish hook and navigate dangerous obstacles—including the violent coconut pirates known as Kakamora and a giant, treasure-hoarding crab—to restore the heart and bring prosperity back to the islands.
