You already know him as the excellent host of the Aron’s sellout Christmas Concert. You may be a listener to his Whiskey Wednesday podcast. And if you’ve ever attended a concert with this host at the helm, you’re familiar with the style and vibe of Ken Tizzard and Music for Goats (visit https://kentizzard.com/the-story-so-far to learn even more).
Now our local musician is bringing those talents to the Aron’s latest fundraiser with a concert, alongside fellow local musician Matthew Holtby. We asked Ken about his sound, the secret behind the Aron’s sound, and his embrace of Campbellford.

OUR AUDIENCES WILL RECOGNIZE YOU ALREADY FROM YOUR EXCELLENT HOSTING OF THE ARON’S ANNUAL CHRISTMAS CONCERT! WHY DO YOU THINK THE ARON IS AN IMPORTANT SPACE IN OUR COMMUNITY AND WHY SHOULD PEOPLE COME OUT TO THIS FUNDRAISER?
These days it is more important to choose local when you can. By doing this we ensure valued services stay in our community. Having a theatre space for box office faves, concerts and special events is a great thing to keep local.
WHAT CAN PEOPLE EXPECT WHEN ATTENDING A KEN TIZZARD AND MUSIC FOR GOATS SHOW LIVE?
Songs and stories from 39 years of playing music. The trio have been working hard on new material and also tuning up old songs with new arrangements and sounds.
YOU'LL BE JOINED BY MATTHEW HOLTBY AS OPENING ACT, WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT HIS MUSIC AND WHAT CAN AUDIENCES LOOK FORWARD TO?
Matthew is fairly new to our community. He is a great songwriter and as well is working hard in the community to continue to support local venues and entertainers.
YOU ALSO BRING THE WHISKEY WEDNESDAY PODCAST TO LIFE EVERY WEEK. WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT THAT FORMAT FOR BRINGING MUSICIANS TOGETHER?
These days the beauty of the Whiskey Wednesday show is that it has no boundaries. We have guests from Joey Keithley (DOA) to comedian Rick Mercer and fisherman Bob Izumi. It is a great way to share Canadian talent.
THE ARON STAGE IS KNOWN FOR ITS SOUND QUALITY. WHAT DO YOU HEAR FROM THE OTHER MUSICIANS YOU'VE HOSTED AT THE ARON AND WHAT DO YOU THINK OF IT AS A MUSICIAN YOURSELF?
These days the beauty in the Aron perhaps lies with its sound, and Andy Thompson. With decades of experience recording and performing, his ears are more tuned in than anybody else I know in the area.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT LIVING IN THE CAMPBELLFORD AREA?
I love the quiet and the small town feel that Campbellford provides. The schools and a hospital made the choice pretty simple for us 27 years ago when we were looking to settle down and have kids.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SHOW YOU EVER SAW (OR PLAYED!) AT THE ARON?
There have been so many. It is hard to define one event. From the Sadie’s and the Spades to Ron Hynes and Greg Keelor, I have witnessed amazing events over the years.
