Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie is a 2025 Canadian time-travel comedy mockumentary directed by Matt Johnson. It serves as a feature-length evolution of the cult-favourite web series (2007–2009) and subsequent TV show (2017–2018) created by Johnson and Jay McCarrol.
Fictionalised versions of Matt and Jay continue their lifelong, absurd quest to book a gig at The Rivoli, a legendary bar in Toronto, despite never having written or recorded any music.
When a high-stakes publicity stunt involving the CN Tower goes wrong, the duo accidentally travels back in time to the year 2008.
The film is an homage to Back to the Future and utilizes a mix of new footage and real archival footage from the original web series to depict their younger selves.
